COURSE DESCRIPTION In this course, students will learn appropriate methods for creating cinema and video productions. Students will plan and produce original digital media projects, applying fundamental concepts of cinema/video design, composition, lighting, filming, and editing. Special emphasis will be placed on creativity and the writing process so that students will build skills and confidence as communicators. Students will have opportunities to explore narrative, expository, and persuasive modes of writing. Specific course topics related to writing will include, but will not be limited to, developing ideas, researching, synthesizing information, storyboarding, and scriptwriting. In the second half of the course, we will produce a class film (here is the class film we made last year). Selected student projects will air on Bevcam, Beverly’s local access TV station (Xfinity ch. 22) and/or the Bevcam Education YouTube channel. No previous media experience or training is required.
