This course will focus on cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and body composition along with learning various sports skill and strategies designed to improve one's successful participation and performance abilities. Students will be introduced to the fundamental principles needed to reduce the risk of heart disease, and the theories/methods and safety precautions relative to muscular growth and development and game play. Each student will be given a pre- and post- assessment to establish his/her fitness level and will develop a personalized exercise routine, that is challenging, productive and fun.

In addition, students enrolled in these courses can expect to experience energetic, enriching lessons centered around the twelve components of fitness, important health related decision making skills (decision making, managing stress, assertiveness, resisting peer pressure, etc.) and strategies for seeking lifelong, healthy lifestyles. The concept of wellness is for one to gain understanding about the importance of the balance of one's physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and vocational wellness. It is my goal to teach all students to be good citizens, learn and practice proper and healthy mental and social health, make health based conscious decisions, and adopt healthy behaviors as they enter (early) adulthood.
